Strawberry Pineapple Pear Smoothie by Junko Gemmill

Strawberry Pineapple Pear Smoothie

Now that we own a Vitamix blender, we want to juice everything! My husband Ben started bringing fruit smoothies every morning to work, so I get to play with the Vitamix daily. Well, it’s usually a rush so there’s not much time for creativity. Whatever fruits we happen to have tend to get thrown in, and we’ve found that you can’t really go wrong. That said, the combination of strawberry, pineapple and pear is one of our favorites. When I say pear though, I mean Asian pear. It’s different in shape, taste and texture from Western pears. The Asian pears have high water content and are crisp and sweet, which make them great for fruit juices. Pineapples serve as great sweeteners, and frozen strawberries give the juice a beautiful pink smoothie color and texture. No artificial sweeteners are added, so we like to think it’s a healthy drink even though we know that fruits naturally contain sugar!
